VM West specializes as an industry expert in vegetation management services for remote, long-span utility line right-of-ways. With nearly 20 years performing utility line management across the western United States, VM West holds the annual contracts to service thousands of miles of transmission and distribution lines.
This customer utilizes VM West on a recurring treatment schedule to keep their lines free from excessive right-of-way vegetation growth and line hazards. This specific project involved a line span covering high elevation alpine terrain, with specific sensitive seasonal closures, on a 5-year treatment cycle.
Our crews scouted this job to create an action plan based on the job requirements, hazards, and treatment requirements.
VM crews utilized hand treatment practices to remove incompatible vegetation and hazard trees. All cleared brush and woody material were processed on-site or removed in accordance with the customer’s requirements. This specific job had numerous hazards and complexities present from dead standing timber, very high elevation, and steep, rugged terrain. The crew successfully completed the entire project as designed, within the performance period, and 100% safely.
Our crews always perform a full vegetation analysis for our customers pre and post treatment, which is included in a full treatment report.
